Selby College - Overview
Throughout our six year relationship with Selby College, they have continuously challenged us to adapt and respond to their diverse business requirements. We have applied our expertise to transform the way they manage information within the college and the platforms they use to communicate internally with their audience. Amongst recent successes is our recent build of an exciting new mobile site which has led to a significant 229% increase in visitors exploring Selby's site.

Selby College needed a vibrant and flexible site designed very much with its younger audience in mind whilst preserving the gravitas and . We rebuilt their site, including an innovative 360* 'Virtual Tour' which guides visitors through the campus and a mobile site that requires no extra management by the site administrator.
The original site did not serve the college's business needs: it could take up to a month to update content as it fell on the shoulders of the already overworked IT team. We implemented a content management system suited to the dynamic nature of the academic business environment which enabled administrators to change content as frequently as necessary.
The website was recently commended by Ofsted.
Cut costs and improved site relevance: the powerful publishing system hugely reduced administrative overheads.
Selby's target audience is young and increasingly mobile. The website gives a great experience on desktop computers, but underperforms on mobile devices.
We created a mobile version of the site that runs on exactly the same system as the desktop site, but is fast, snappy and easy to use on mobiles. The amount of work that Selby had to put in to roll-out the new mobile skin was about two hours and yet it contains about 500 pages of content, same as the desktop site.

Search Engine Optimisation
Selby college has a slightly unusual search-engine ranking problem: they are only interested in searches within a 50 mile radius.
We used our specialist knowledge to sculpt an SEO strategy that exploits the way Google ranks its pages to lead prospective students direct to the college's site. We ensured that searches drew in a localised audience.
We're also are implementing synonyms to course-search related keywords: a particular challenge as Selby College offers over 200 continuously changing courses.

A key element to how Selby delivers its courses is its Virtual Learning Environment, Moodle. Selby wanted this independent platform integrated into its site and made more student friendly. We applied the college's branding to the software and improved usability with the effect that its now a core element of Selby's offering to students.
Sharepoint Intranet Site
As a result of an internal assessment of their business needs, Selby identified that they needed a flexible, reliable and accessible system to replace their intranet and revolutionise their document management.
Following a business process analysis of College workflows, WLTW offered Selby a number of solutions to manage the vast number of documents generated by the institution. Selby opted for 'Microsoft Sharepoint' which also enabled them to centralise access to information and applications on an intranet site. We implemented this for them resulting in streamlined docmentation management, improved communication and easier access to information within the college business environment.
