Social media - join the conversation
We’ve put together a social media platform that gives you the tools to venture out into social media quickly, easily and cheaply: taking a blog and magnifying its power manyfold by allowing you to automatically repost your blog posts to twitter, facebook, linkedIn, tumblr etc. So you can distribute your messages in many directions at once.
Only 1% of companies who are heavily involved in social media say that they have gained no real value from the channel (source: Forrester Research) and if you think about it, it’s obvious why. Social media is just doing what you already do offline, online.
It’s good, old-fashioned networking and conversations with customers, just conducted online instead of face to face. There’s a little bit more than that involved obviously, but part of the setup is talking through with you (or your client), how to make it part of your (their) marketing mix. I’ve more marketing collateral on ‘why should we bother with social media’ too, if you need it. Sorta ‘how to think about it all to see the value’.
People we introduce to the platform often can’t believe how easy it is to use. Here’s how the conversation goes:
- “So: I just send an email to this address and it creates a blog post, then automatically reposts it to my facebook, twitter, linkedIn and email subscription lists?”
- “Yes.”
- “I just send an email?”
- “Yes.”
- “How about pictures and videos and PDFs and documents I want to upload?”
- “You send them as email attachments. It scrapes them off and embeds them in the page. Pictures in a gallery, video in a player and so on. It even uploads the photos to facebook for you.”
- “Really, really honestly and truly?”
- “Really. We use it ourselves at http://blogs.welovetheweb.com”
We’ve sold a few so far, one to ‘mutter and harumph’, NDA purveyors extraordinaire and one to Evolution Print in Sheffield, which is going to be with styling by Designers Republic (name drop, name drop). We’re also using it ourselves, so we’re ‘eating our own dogfood’ to air that most delicious of phrases.
How much does it cost?
£950 + VAT
How long does it take to set up?
We can get you up and running as little as 3 days, mostly it depends on how easy it is to get sign-off for artwork and so forth.
What do you get for your money?
We do this:
- Set you up with accounts on LinkedIn, Facebook and twitter (if you don’t have them already)
- Integrate the blog with your website at http://blogs.yourwebsitedomain.com*
- Integrate the blog with Google analytics so you can see how many people are visiting, how long they stay and what they read.
- Artwork the look and feel of the blog, then style the blog and twitter account to your company branding (facebook can’t really be styled).
- Train you in how to post to the blog (easy)
- Train you in how to use social media to benefit your business (trickier, but not rocket science)
Will I need to involve the designers of my existing site?
Maybe, but only a little bit. Someone will need to add the ‘blog’ link into your existing site. This is usually a trivial job.
For most websites, they would need to do an hour’s work at most. If you are no longer in contact with your website designers, we can usually work something out.
I already have a blog, can I still use this?
We can usually import your existing blog posts from many blogging platforms including blogger, movable type and wordpress.
Are there any hidden costs or subscription fees?
No.
If for any reason there were travel costs related to delivery of training (not normally the case) or technical issues with the integration to your existing website, then we will clearly flag any costs to you before we start.
Ooh, actually, there's one caveat. That price doesn't include making it work in Internet Explorer 6 because it's a pig to work with. We can help you with that, but it's an extra. After all, You Tube don't even bother with IE6 anymore, so
